As we announced on November 21, the Lord is calling Pastor J.T. Tarter to a new ministry opportunity. J.T., our site pastor at Capital Pres Herndon, has accepted a call to be Senior Pastor at Hollywood Presbyterian Church in Hollywood, CA — beginning February 18, 2025.

While we recognize God’s call and timing, we are sad to see the Tarters leave. J.T. has served on our church staff for over seven years and launched Capital Pres Herndon two years ago. Under his leadership and with the help of his gifted staff and elected leaders, Capital Pres Herndon has grown into a vibrant congregation with dynamic ministries that both serve its people and reach its community.

Upcoming opportunities to connect with J.T. and his family:
  • Sunday, Dec. 8 — Immediately following the 10:45am worship service at Herndon, we’ll host a Capital Pres Herndon congregational gathering: J.T. will share more about this next call, and church leadership will provide a transition plan to support and continue Herndon’s thriving; all are invited to attend.
  • Sunday, Dec. 29 — J.T.’s final Sunday at Capital Pres Herndon; we’ll host a farewell reception after the service; details to come.
