English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes help non-native English speakers advance their conversational skills and learn more about American culture.
We offer classes in Herndon and McLean. We offer six levels of classes, and match each student’s skill level to a class. Read about our class details below.

Our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes help non-native English speakers improve and advance their language skills. Some of our students know little or no English; others have studied English in their home country. Many can read and write English but need practice in English conversation. We try to meet the needs of students at all levels.
Instruction includes grammar, pronunciation, reading, and American culture and customs. Part of the reading material and discussions of holidays and traditions may include Christian teaching.

THURSDAY CLASS | Meets weekly on Thursday evenings, 7–9pm
If you have not taken an ESOL class with us before, you must come to McLean Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, Sept. 11 between 9:30am and 10:30am for verbal testing and placement. Up to three levels of English classes are taught.
Registration Fee: There is a one-time registration fee of $50, which covers the cost of the course and includes all teaching materials.
Registration Deadline: Registrations are accepted throughout the year as space allows.

Help international friends in our community to grow confidently in their English-speaking abilities! Serve as a teacher, teaching assistant, conversation partner, or Hospitality Team member. No formal training is required — just a willingness to meet with and pray for your students, and help them to take a step forward in their English abilities. New teachers work alongside experienced instructors.
