We are looking for a kind, trustworthy and reliable nanny for our two boys, starting as soon as possible. This position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week. Our oldest is 3.5 years old and the other is 18 months old. We have a third boy coming in January who would eventually need care after mom is off maternity leave. The majority of the time will be spent with the 18 month old as our 3.5 year old attends pre-school in the mornings until 12:30. On school breaks you will have both boys. Mom works from home 3 days a week and is in the office two days a week. Dad works outside of the home full time. Hours would be 8AM-3PM on mom’s work-from-home days and 7:45AM-5PM on mom’s office days. Right now, mom works in the office Tues/Thurs but that can be adjusted if you need different days. There is some flexibility with this schedule and we’re willing to make adjustments where we can. Pay is $26 per hour with a planned increase once you are caring for the third child. Mom will be on maternity leave late January to late April but the nanny position will remain full time during that time unless you would prefer to reduce hours.
Our 3.5 year old son has Down Syndrome and is the sweetest toddler with a very laid back personality. He is physically healthy and not significantly delayed in any physical abilities. He does have communication delays (limited vocabulary) but we have systems in place to help us understand him. Due to his diagnosis we are part of a government program that assists us with paying for a nanny. It requires a background check, US citizenship, and the use of a payroll system. We also require at least one reference from a previous employer and that you are CPR certified (or willing to get CPR certified). You will need a driver’s license, a copy of your driving record, and a vehicle you are able to transport 2 kids in. Other benefits include 5 paid sick days, 2 weeks of paid leave when we are vacation in January and July, 8 paid federal holidays, 5 days of personal leave and mileage reimbursement.
General responsibilities would include general care like feeding, playing, changing diapers, supervising, helping with educational activities, assisting in potty training, light housework associated with the kids (doing their laundry, cleaning playroom/their bedroom) and light food prep for lunches/snacks and some light baking. We will also need assistance getting our toddler to/from preschool and speech therapy appointments. We love for the boys to get outside as much as possible, go on walks, go to the park, library story times, etc.
We live in a single-family home in the Fair Lakes area in Fairfax. We also have a small dog who is very low maintenance and you would only be expected to let him out in the backyard for bathroom breaks on the days mom is at the office. We had a wonderful nanny before this who just recently moved but is willing to speak to any serious candidates who would like her perspective on working for our family. If you come to work for us we want you to feel well cared for as an employee and we want to build a warm and comfortable relationship with you!
